JOMO Pride Inc. & Blackthorn Pizza & Pub are teaming up during Pride Month, on June 25th, for a FREE Community Viewing of Stonewall Uprising!
"When police raided the Stonewall Inn, a popular gay bar in the Greenwich Village section of New York City on June 28th, 1969, the street erupted into violent protests that lasted for the next 6 days. The Stonewall Riots, as they came to be known, marked a major turning point in the modern gay civil rights movement in the United States and around the world." Due to continued issues surrounding COVID-19 we ask all attendees to practice safe social distancing guidelines when possible, and are encouraged to protect the high risk members of our community through the use of facial coverings.

Friends, Allies and Supporters,
With continued regulations on large scale events, social distancing guidelines and the concern for the safety of our community and attendees, the Board of Directors has made the difficult decision not to have an in-person Pride. It may not be feasible nor safe to proceed with our planned event due to COVID-19, but the Board is working diligently on ways we can still come together and celebrate Pride as a community, whether by virtual or other non traditional means. We will be keeping the same dates of August 29th and 30th. While some of these restrictions may be lifted later this Summer, JOMO PrideFest was expected to bring over 3,000+ attendees from as far as 250+ miles away. While most other Pride celebrations in the Midwest have cancelled or postponed, we felt continuing with our in-person event could pose a significant risk to our community due to the influx of attendees from major city hubs across the 4-State Region. While the board works towards ways to provide a safe alternative to the in-person event in August, in the meantime, Jomo Pride Inc encourages the community to "Show your Pride" through the rest of Pride month and beyond by decorating your houses, businesses and yourselves and posting pictures online, tagging us using the hashtag #JOMOpride and sharing YOUR pride!
